What is considered a small penis? Let’s talk!

is my penis too small

Let’s talk about the elephant in the room. Okay, maybe not literally, but you get the point. Penis size! It is an obsessive thought to many guys. They wonder, “what is considered a small penis?”, “am I big enough?” or “how can I get bigger?” For some guys these thoughts have led to insecurities about their masculinity and their ability to please their partner. And some guys living in this world of virtual reality and cyber communication have begun to exaggerate what they are packing in their boxer shorts, even by science fiction standards.

What is considered a small penis?

Many guys have this idea that their penis needs to be huge in order for them to please their partner. They believe they will be laughed at and ridiculed. The internet is abuzz with guys worrying, like a busy small penis forum of desperate googling. How many of the people googling “condom for small penis” actually need one? In a study conducted by the University of Sheffield, researchers discovered that 45% of men would like to have a larger penis. What is most interesting about this study is that those who wanted to have a larger penis where those who had average sized penises, not those with smaller penises.

Imagine that for a moment. Almost half of the male population wishes that their penis was bigger. And it isn’t the guys with smaller penises that want to enlarge the size of their member, it’s those who are average size.  So if you are wishing that your penises was larger, you are most likely average size. So what is with this obsession and desire for a bigger member?

The Visual

The comedian Ron White once made a joke about how he made a homophobic friend admit he liked seeing large penises in porn. If you want to hear the joke and you promise to come back to finish reading this article, click here. The joke really points to the serious issue here. When guys watch porn, they like to see big things. Big breasts, big butts, and big penises. This has become the ideal for many men. It is what visually stimulates them. And because it visually stimulates them they feel it is essential to also visually stimulate a female partner.

Men are much more visual than women. Don’t get me wrong, women do like certain physical characteristics in a man. However, overall women are much more stimulated by words and touch than by visuals. And when women are turned on by visuals it is in a much different way than it is with men. Men display their erect penis believing the women will see how big they are and be so turned on they can’t resist him. Women may in fact get turned on by seeing a man’s erection but she isn’t thinking, “Wow, he is so big I have to have him!” she is thinking, “Wow, look how hard I made him!” These worries around penis size are sometimes referred to as “small penis syndrome”.

The Reality

The truth is that the average penis size is around 5-7 inches when erect. It really doesn’t matter how big the penis is when it is not erect. This varies from person to person. In fact, the size of a penis when it is not erect gives no indication of how big it is when it is erect. I’m sure you’ve heard the expression, “are you a grower or a shower.” That’s because penises that look large when not erect still only become 5-7 inches when erect. There are also plenty of sex positions for small penis owners to make the most of their length, such as doggy style or reverse cowgirl.

Now let’s talk about the ladies a little bit. Most women orgasm by clitoral stimulation rather than intercourse. This isn’t because their partners are not big enough, it is because the clitoris has 8,000 nerve endings! Not only is the average vagina 3-4 inches long, but only 1/3 from the entrance has nerve endings. So 5-7 inches is more than enough to do the job.

Good news by the way: As far as sex toys are concerned, size is not decisive either…

Increasing Penis Size

For you gentleman wanting to increase the size of your penis, I have to tell you, there are no medications or exercises that can safely increase your penis size. Please, don’t write me about something that you have discovered on the internet. Trust me when I tell you, there are no safe and effective medications or exercises to increase your penis size. If you try some of the exercises that you find on the internet you could injure yourself.

If you are persistent that you need to increase your penis size, please speak with a medical professional about options. Though I personally would not recommend it to my clients, it is possible to undergo cosmetic surgery to increase the size of your penis. However, you must speak with your medical doctor to see if this is a good option for you.

The Bottom Line

Men, chances are your penis is average length. It is plenty big to do the job it needs to do. The idea that you need to be 10 inches or more doesn’t mean you’ll be a great lover. In fact, she won’t be able to feel most of it and it could cause her pain. Don’t waste your money on ointments, pills, and exercises. They won’t help and they could causes injury or other problems. If you are concerned about your ability to please your partner, then you should invest your time and energy in learning how to be a better lover. Learning new sexual positions is a great start. Discovering new ways to turn your partner on is also important. These are important skills to develop, because it doesn’t really matter how big your gun is if you’re never going to shoot it anyways!
