Erotic Recipes – 1. Course: the Ooooooooh-d’oeuvre

Did you know? In Chinese art the plum is a symbol for the vulva. A recipe called “Frivolous Plum” includes nutmeg, known for its stimulating effects since the 16th century. Nutmeg used to be consumed with milk or wine, in part for its intoxicating effect as well as to increase desire. Part of the reason is that nutmeg includes essential oils. It stimulates the mucous membranes to help build the ‘happiness hormone,’ serotonin.

Serves two:

  • 10 prunes (without stones)
  • 3 tbsp Sherry
  • 10 slices of smoked bacon
  • A generous pinch of nutmeg
  • 10 toothpicks

How it’s done:

Mix the sherry and the nutmeg. Add the prunes, cover, and marinate for two hours, stirring occasionally. Then wrap the prunes in the smoked bacon, secure with toothpicks and place into an oven dish. Bake in a preheated oven for about 20 minutes at 200 degrees / 392 °F.

Erotic Recipes – 2. Course: Sexy Soup

Okay, so a carrot soup doesn’t sound very sexy, but the secret’s in the spices. Ginger and chili, for example, are celebrated for their stimulating effects. They promote blood circulation and open the pores. The skin becomes more sensitive to touch. Cinnamon, on the other hand, stimulates the body’s own pheromone production in both men and women and can make your partner more desirable. Additionally, saffron is considered by Middle Eastern cultures to be an aphrodisiac. In particular, the spice is used as a pleasure-enhancing ingredient for women.

Serves two:

  • 200 g / 7 oz carrots
  • 20 g / 0,7 oz onion
  • 10 g / 0,35 oz ginger
  • 1/2 small chili
  • 10 g / 0,35 oz butter
  • 300 ml / 10 oz vegetable stock
  • 80 ml / 3 oz of cream or coconut milk
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon saffron powder
  • Salt
  • Pepper

How it’s done:

Peel the carrots and onion. Cut the carrots into pieces; dice the onion. Peel the ginger and mince it. Halve the chili, remove partitions and seeds and finely chop. Heat the butter in a saucepan and sauté the carrots, onion, ginger and chili. Add the vegetable stock and cream or coconut milk, add spices and simmer for 20 minutes at a reduced heat. Then purée using a blender. Add some water if necessary, so that the soup is beautifully creamy.

Erotic Recipes – 3. Course: Kamasutra Pasta

Caviar is one of the most exclusive foods in the world. For that reason alone, the ingredient can be a beguiling charm. In addition, and as with all seafood, high levels of zinc promote the production of testosterone. So how about “Tagliatelle con caviale”, served with fresh cream cheese and garlic? Because garlic is anything but a pleasure killer! The small bulb stimulates blood circulation and has a positive effect on the production of sexual hormones.

Serves two:

  • 200 g / 7 oz tagliatelle
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 3 tbsp caviar of your choice, e.g. Osietra
  • 80 g /3 oz cream cheese
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • dash of olive oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper

How it’s done:

Cook the pasta in plenty of water according to package instructions. Peel the garlic clove and chop finely. Heat some olive oil in a pan and sauté the garlic over medium heat. Be careful, the garlic should not turn brown, otherwise it develops bitter substances. Add the cooked tagliatelle into the pan and add the cream cheese underneath. If necessary, add a little bit of water from the pasta pan to make a creamy sauce. Turn down the heat. Lift the caviar under the noodles and season with lemon juice, salt and pepper.

Erotic Recipes – 4. Course: Sweet Sin

The perfect finale for a sexy dinner for two? It has to be Mousse au Chocolat. Chocolate is the epitome of luxury and – as a classic Valentine gift – a symbol of love. Plus: chocolate makes you happy.

Cocoa actually contains small quantities of substances that can lift the mood. These include natural stimulants such as caffeine or the plant substance theobromine, which can cause intoxication-like effects. A component of the happiness hormone serotonin is also found in cocoa.

Serves two:

  • 1 egg
  • 200 ml /7 oz cream
  • 150 g / 5 oz dark couverture chocolate

How it’s done:

Separate the egg. Whisk egg white and cream together in a blender until stiff and allow to chill. Melt couverture in a water bath. Importantly, do not heat the water above 45 degrees / 113 °F and don’t allow any water to get into the couverture, otherwise it will lead to a separation of the cocoa butter from the remaining ingredients. Beat the egg yolks until frothy and carefully fold into the couverture. Lift the cream and the egg white, stir everything slowly and cool the resulting mousse for a few hours. This basic recipe can be given an extra kick by adding a pinch of cinnamon or some grated nutmeg.
